Bruno Munari’s alphabet picture book ABC was first published in 1960, but was reprinted in 2006.
Munari was an Italian artist whose career lasted decades and sprawled across multiple disciplines: art, graphic design, and children’s books, among them. He won multiple awards, including the Hans Christian Andersen medal in 1974.
What matters here, though, is that this is a clear and well-organized alphabet book illustrated with lovely, colorful images. Many of these come from the natural world–A, for example, is illustrated by ant and apple–and many of the rest come from domestic context: G gets green and grass, but also glasses and a gift.
Kids will like the images, but will also enjoy they and the images are positioned on the page.
