I’m Greg Beatty. This is my blog about picture books.
I have published a wide range of writing, and I mean wide.
No, I’m serious. I’ve published jokes (about everything from cows to serial killers), essays (about everything from anarchy to cooking disasters), study guides (usually about literary works), and reviews (of plays, books, poems, TV shows, and audio books).
I’ve published lots of my own stories and poems. Some of these have won awards.
Almost all of these works, though, have been aimed at adults. I’m now focusing on picture books.
I have not had any picture books published….yet! One publisher is currently holding onto one of my manuscripts–which means they are trying to decide if they want to publish it or not–and one several of my stories for kids have won awards.
To be specific…
“Debbie Was Different” won second place in the 2025 Science-me a Story contest sponsored by the SRUK/CERU Science Communication Symposium.
“An Octopus Halloween” won an honorable mention in the 2025 PB & Kid Judges picture book contest
They Both Won the Bet” won the Exisle Academy 2021 short story contest (children’s division).
