Yeah! There’s a new David book.
That is to say, this week David Shannon published another book in his fantastic picture book series featuring David. Shannon started with No, David! (1998) and followed that with books like David Goes to School and David Gets in Trouble.
No, David! was a Caldecott Honor book, and deservedly so. Shannon’s artwork blends an adult sense of image design and detail placement with a style that is 100% kid–and 1000% fun.
The writing is simple, and the images carry the story. This means you can read the David books with even the youngest kids, letting them point things out…as long as you’re ready for them to embrace the chaos and mess David always generates.
