Amanda Baehr Fuller’s 2025 picture book Bunny Made Tea is a very simple book with original illustrations.

The premise is, Bunny wants tea. Bunny gathers the ingredients for tea, fighting rain and wind to get the right flowers.

Bunny goes home and makes tea. Opossum shows up. Drinks Bunny’s tea.

An implied but not shown sigh, because the tea is now gone.

Bunny starts over, gathering new ingredients.

Bunny goes home and makes tea. Opossum shows up, with her babies. Bunny is surprised, and spills the tea.

Bunny starts over, gathering new ingredients, this time with help of one baby possum. The babies drink Bunny’s tea.

An implied but not shown sigh, because the tea is now gone. Bunny goes to bed without tea, and wakes to find the one helpful possum baby has made tea for Bunny. On the last page, “Bunny drank tea.”

A perfect picture book rhythm, with nicely delicate images. Lots of unstated emotional responses for kids to learn and fill in.

The stakes are very low, and the words are few, making this best for a younger reader.
