Recently I’ve been enjoying listening to some newish singers (newish in general, and new to me for sure). Dasha is one of these.
I was curious if my library had her albums, and did a search, which led me to Wiggle Up, Giddy Up!, a 2025 CD by the “The Wiggles & Friends.” I’m not a big fan of The Wiggles, but I was curious, so I picked it up.
And got even more curious. It isn’t just Dasha joining The Wiggles on the album. Laney Wilson’s there too, and Dolly Parton! Some of the “friends” make sense: The Wiggles are Australian, and so is Morgan Evans (another “friend’) on the album, and Kaylee Bell is from New Zealand. Some of the choices, though, are intriguing. I enjoy Wilson’s work…but she’s gotten a lot of attention recently for her…butt. Dolly’s a saint or an angel (maybe both), but her physical attributes draw attention, and so on.
That oddity aside, the music here is fast and witty. There are more than 30 songs on the album, all in the kids pop country range. If you like country and have kids, check it out. Otherwise, just cock your head.
