Today I learned three things.
First, I learned that I agree with Mac Barnett: Goodnight Moon isn’t just a kids book. It is a classic of American literature.
(If you don’t know Mac Barnett, you should. Stop reading this and go find some of his books. Personally, I would start with Sam & Dave Dig a Hole (2014). It is a standalone book, and was a Caldecott Honor book. It also won the E.B. White award and the Wanda Gág award [both given for read aloud books] and the Irma Black Award, given to works where the words and images are “inseparable.)
Second, I learned that Mac Barnett is currently serving as the Library of Congress’ National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature.

Third, I learned we have a National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature. Who knew?
I call this a good day.
